Homework Policy

Mathematics Courses (ALGEBRA II HONORS, ALGEBRA II C2, STATISTICS)

ASSIGNMENTS:
With some exceptions, homework is assigned each class period and falls due the following period.  The completion of homework assignments will comprise a significant portion of your grade (roughly 25%, depending on the course).  Please note: it is extremely difficult to pass these math courses without doing the homework.

EVALUATION:
Completed assignments are graded on the following scale.  Please recognize that these grades are based on effort, not necessarily correct answers.  To receive credit, you must show all work.

All problems attempted/work shown:
Full credit – 100%
Most problems attempted/work shown:
Partial credit – 75%
Incomplete work:
Half credit – 50%
No homework:
No credit – 0%

SUBMISSION:
You must present a hard copy of your homework in the first five minutes of class to receive credit.  Use a notebook that can accommodate returned assignments, as a record of your work will be helpful in subsequent testing.  There is a one-class grace period for homework assignments.  If you are absent the day homework is assigned, check the web site or call a friend.

Keep in mind that homework is an opportunity to practice the material taught in class, and can help you identify where you may need further help.  In addition, many of the quizzes you will take will be based on the homework problems; completed homework will likely translate to higher grades.
