Calculator

The optimal calculator to own (for both high school and college work) is one of the TI-83 or TI-84 series of graphing calculators, particularly for Algebra II and Statistics. The large display, graphing functionality and programming capability make it very useful, although at a high cost (more than $100). Otherwise, any of the models in the less expensive TI-30X series (such as the TI-30X IIS) is excellent. All are available at retailers here on the island and through on-line sources.

Notebook

A three-ring binder is required to organize returned assignments and the many hand-outs that are distributed in class. If you have a three-ring binder for another class, it is adequate to use a section or two of it for math.

Compass, straight edge and protractor

Although the school has a limited supply of these items, students taking geometry would find these useful for both classwork and homework.

Graph paper

Always a good idea for students enrolled in geometry and statistics.

Internet access

Assignments are posted on this website; there are also links to other, external sites that can provide additional help for homework and test preparation.

Textbook

A math textbook is provided at the start of the school year. Students should keep the textbook at home and return it to school in June.
