The Resource Academic Assistance Program:

"Resource" is a program for students who have been diagnosed with a specific learning problem or disability which interferes with academic performance. The Support Service Team with parent agreement determines the focus for resource class for each participant with consideration of the individual student's particular educational needs.
The program is based on a tutorial model of service delivery, and focuses primarily on providing tutorial instruction for regular education course work, as well as assistance in developing organizational study skills.

Classes are grouped heterogeneously, and may be composed of students in different grades with a wide range in academic ability.  Because of this diversity, students receive individual support based on the goals and objectives of their Individual Educational Plans (IEP's).

As the students progress through the program and acquire the study or compensatory skills necessary for academic success, they are encouraged to work more independently and to generalize these skill to different academic tasks.  Students also receive support in developing communication and interpersonal skills in working with teachers and in advocating for themselves.

In addition to providing support for high school academics, attention is also given to exploring post-secondary options and vocational goals.  Coordination of college and vocational planning is made with guidance staff in order to provide students with the resources and information necessary to develop appropriate transitional goals.

YOUR QUARTER GRADES WILL BE BASED ON THE FOLLOWING:

1.  Being on time and keeping an up-to-date assignment book-10 points
Students are expected to be in their seats, before the late bell rings.

2.  Responsibility towards learning-20 points
Students are expected to bring books and assignments to class. Students must have their own
pen/pencil, a notebook, and assignment book.  Trips to lockers, other classrooms, library, etc. after the late bell has rung are                distracting to other students.

3. Use of time-40 points
Students are expected to begin work within 10 minutes of late bell and continue through
the entire period.  Half credit can be earned for working at least 50 minutes.  Students with
"nothing to do" will be given an assignment by the teacher, but may not earn points unless it is related to a course.

4.  Behavior/Attitude-30 points
Students are expected to be respectful of others, not interrupt other's learning, and follow school rules.  Every student should                have the chance to study and receive help.
