Entrepreneurship – Mr. Burgoyne
4th Quarter Business Plan Project
Working independently or in teams of two, students will write and present a business plan for their 4th quarter project. This project will account for 25% of your quarter grade and will be due no later than Friday, June 1st (the day of H period Finals for Seniors).
The Business Plan project has two components: a detailed, high quality, typed business plan and a 5-10 slide PowerPoint (Not Keynote) Presentation. Each team will present the PowerPoint to myself and the class as if I was the banker or investor who would decide to provide / deny your team the capital necessary to launch your business.
The business plan should cover the following seven basic elements of a business plan: (Refer to chapters 5 and 7 in your textbook as well as the handouts on BPs)
1. History and background of your idea.
2. Goals and objectives of your company.
3. Products or service you will offer.
4. Form of ownership (sole proprietorship, partnership, or corporation)
5. Management and staffing
6. Marketing
7. Current and projected financial statements.
Your business plan should cover the above-stated elements and include the following:
1. A Cover Sheet
2. Table of Contents
3. Statement of Purpose (no more than 1-2 paragraphs)
4. Executive Summary (no longer than 1-2 pages, see pp 107-108 in textbook)
5. Main Body – should cover the 7 elements and any additional elements you’d like to include.
6. Appendix – any supporting evidence (resumes, letters of recommendation, newspaper / magazine articles, tables / graphs etc)
The business plan itself will count for 20% and your presentation the remaining 5%. For Seniors with an average below 90, your final exam will be your business plan presentation. For Seniors with an average above 90, you still must present, and to be exempt from the final, you must have a finished final product before the last day of class, Friday May 25th.
Any project that is not turned in by Friday, June 1st will lose 10 points per school (each day, regardless of when we meet next) day. No excuses: be accountable and meet the deadline or accept the consequences.
Good Luck and Have Fun!
