Toyota Tapestry Grants
The Quest Martha's Vineyard book project is supported by a Toyota Tapestry Grant. The Environmental Science Education Category of the Tapestry Program "funds projects that emphasize the efficient use of natural resources and protection of the environment. Students participating in these projects should gain an increased awareness of the terrestrial, aquatic, and/or atmospheric environment and an understanding of their own interdependence with the natural world."

Description of our project, "Quest Martha's Vineyard"
The purpose of our project is to publish a guidebook of activities that will introduce Islanders and visitors to our managed conservation areas. Students have written chapters highlighting individual properties, and they have designed scavenger hunt style "quests" at each property for visitors to complete to learn about places and specimens of interest. The students worked with mentors to design the "quests" at each location and have had the unique experience of preparing their work for publication in the form of a guidebook.
Book Availability
The resulting guidebook was published by the Martha's Vineyard Times, and it is available for purchase on the Times website or at local bookstores such as Bunch of Grapes.
