French I Honors
French Current Events

  • You will choose one news/current event article per week on France or the French-speaking world.  
  • Paste these into a notebook and write a one paragraph summary in your own words about the article.  
  • You will turn these notebooks in the first week of class.  (minimum 10 entries/articles)
  • The assignment will count towards your term I grade.


French II Honors
Journals
You will keep a weekly journal in French in a notebook.  
(20 entry minimum) 6-8 sentences per entry
Use a variety of verbs and topics.  Notebooks will be collected and graded the first week of school as part of your Term I grade.
Here are some suggestions to get you started:

  •   What is something you dislike about yourself?
  •   What is something you do well?
  •   What is your favourite room in your home and why?
  •   What is your favourite time of day?
  •   What is your idea of a boring evening? (boring=ennuyeux)
  •   What is something you are optimistic about?
  •   What is something you are pessimistic about?
  •   What is your most indispensable possession and why?
  •   What is your favourite song and why?
  •   What is the best birthday present you ever received?
  •   What is something that makes you feel sad?
  •   What is your favourite book and why?
  •   What is something that really bugs you?
  •   What is something that really makes you angry?
  •   What is your favourite holiday? What makes this holiday special?
  •   What is your favourite day of the week?
  •   What is your favourite month? Why?


French III Honors
Journals
You will keep a journal in French during the summer (in a notebook).  
Minimum of 25 entries (8-10 sentence minimum per entry)
Use a variety of verbs, tenses and topics.  
Notebooks will be collected and graded the first week of school as part of your Term I grade.
Here are some suggestions to get you started:

  • Write about a disappointment.
  • Write about a time you had to communicate with someone you couldn't understand.
  • Did you ever win or lose a contest?
  • Write about something you desperately wanted as a kid.
  • Did you ever run away from home? How far did you get?
  • Write about the best attic or basement you've ever been in.  Describe it.
  • Did you ever know someone who had "everything"?  
  • Write about a time as a child when you played in one of the following: a treehouse, a cornfield, a construction site, a junkyard, an abandoned house or barn, a stream, a cemetery, a pasture, railroad tracks.
  • What did you do to amuse yourself as a child when you had to wait for a long time? (for instance, at the doctor's or dentist's office)
  • Did your mom or dad ever make you wear something you hated?
  • What was the earliest you ever got up in the morning? the latest you ever stayed up?
  • Write about a time you were talked into something and regretted it.
  • Were you ever in a helicopter, limousine, race car, hot-air balloon, submarine, or horse-drawn carriage?
  • Did you ever forget something extremely important?
  • Were you ever accused of something you didn't do?
  • Write about a disastrous trip or vacation.
  • Were you ever give a responsibility you couldn't handle?
  • Write about becoming disillusioned with someone you admired or respected.
  • Describe the best concert you ever attended.  
  • Did you ever make friends with a wild animal?
  • Did you ever save someone from getting hurt?
  • Did anyone ever save you from getting hurt?

French IV Honors
